About

I have a very long name that can get even longer if you would check my passport but can also be shortened to only two syllables if you really get to know me. I am Brazilian but people often think I am from somewhere else, frankly speaking I don’t think it really matters. In fact, if people would care less about the color of their skin or where they are coming from the world would be surely a better place. Strange but I never know what to answer on questionnaires that ask about my race. I don’t feel like I am “Caucasian” or “Hispanic” or even “Latin”, mainly because I see myself as multiethnic.

About my education, I’ve got a BA in Communication, a MA in International Cultural Relations and I have recently finished a PhD in Comparative Literature and Cultural Studies in the Department of Multi-Cultural Societies at Tohoku University, Japan.

My research interests are CMC, Social Engineering, mass media and human interaction/networking over Internet and other communication devices. My PhD research work is about Publicity and Marketing in Japanese Celebrities Blogs, analyzing how them, the celebrities, use blogs to construct a process of communion with their audience to increase media exposure, publicity of the self and as an interactive marketing tool.

Both my PhD and MA research works were funded by ‘The Ministry of Education, Sports and Culture of Japan’ under its MEXT Scholarship.

On the other hand, I have been always curious about the universe and as a hobby I developed interest in Physics, including particle behavior, black holes and unified theory, in particular m-theory and strings. Other hobbies include reading, camping, hiking or just hanging around with a video camera in my hand.

Please, feel free to send me your comments, impressions or critics.
