All Things to All Men
It took me a while to come to terms with my consumption habits. I was an addict, I confess. I would buy anything or everything that would say “designed in California” and that had the little half-eaten apple sign on it.
I was an addict and still am.
Just now I have been debating in buying (or not) the new iPod Touch, released a month or so ago. The problem is that in the world of technology and music players, the new never stays so new and Apple will be releasing a revamped, and even better version of its player around Spring next year. There is no way that I can buy it now and be happy in six months, not because I won’t enjoy my music player but simply because now I understand that there is nothing in this world that will be “all things to all men”, no phone, no iPod, no Zune, not even my beloved BlackBerry Storm.
I have come to terms. In a year or so I will leave my cellphone behind, free myself from the monthly bills for my mobile and be a hundred percent dependent on my email and home phone for communication. It probably won’t be too bad, and the nine hundred dollars plus in the end of the year will have proven me right.
