Once upon a time there was a website that offered an alternative of quality to uploading and watching movies. This site was an option to users that did not like the hegemony (and also the quality) played by Youtube in the world of online video sharing. Unfortunately when trying to upload a video I got the following message:

It seems executives from Veoh are not so interested in discussing governance and democracy in cyberspace, illustrating that geographical, political, religious or economical difference can impose barriers to the free access to information in the World Wide Web. This is just one example of censorship applied not only to Brazil but to other 164 countries around the planet. Simply like that, users had the access to their accounts blocked and not a single word explaining the reasons behind it. Once more, the truculence of companies that insist in limiting the free circulation of information in the cyberspace comes to the surface, a good opportunity to keep all of us aware of the future possibilities. A future that may not be so bright to an Internet with information and communication on-demand controlled not only by the payment of fees but also by the arbitrary policy of companies. Shame that subjects like democracy and governance in cyberspace are not broader discussed.
Shame on you Veoh and all your executives that still see the world upwards.
